Has Siris really watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S 21 times?

Siris aka Syria is a 19-year-old (this age maybe false, we shall talk about this in another post) teenage boy who lives in Satdobato, Lalitpur. Recently he said that he has watched the hit TV series called FRIENDS about 21 times. Yes. 21 times!!! I found that hard to believe and called BS on it but he kept on insisting. I said “Alright” and dropped the topic off for that time being.

In this post, we shall investigate if he’s really watched the show 21 times.

FRIENDS has a total of 10 seasons. Those 10 seasons have about 238 episodes with each episode running for about 20-23 minutes. Let’s just take an average of 21 minutes per episode. After doing some hard math, I have calculated that the entire television show lasts for about 85 hours. Of course, this is very less number of hours because he first started watching FRIENDS when he was in Grade 6. He’s currently doing Bachelors in Journalism. So, he’s been watching FRIENDS for about 9 years.

So, in about 9 years, Siris has claimed that he has watched FRIENDS 21 times. Of course, watching FRIENDS 21 times means a total of 21 x 85 = 1785 hours (74.375 days).

You might say that he’s watched it 21 times as it’s only 74.375 days out of 9 years. But there are a lot of variables to take into account. For example, he’s watched tons of TV shows in those 9 years. He claims that he’s watched HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother) numerous times, Sherlock Holmes, Flash, Arrow, House of Cards, Dexter, Stranger Things, Family Guy, The Simpsons (numerous times), Brain Games, The X Files, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half-Men (numerous times), among many others. He is also a hard core anime fan and has watched many anime series such as Bleach, Dragon Ball Z (numerous times), Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball, Death Note (numerous times), One Piece, Durarara, Titans, Fairy Tale, etc. Not only that, but he also watches a lot of movies. He goes to the cinemas whenever there’s a good movie on the screen and comes to my house constantly to get new movies that I’ve downloaded.

Outside of watching a lot of content, he’s also played a lotta games during this 9-year period. He claims and I assure you of this - that he’s played GTA Vice City, San Andreas, WWE more than a couple of times. He plays a lot of PES and FIFA games. During this 9-year period, he’s slept a lot. Humans sleep for about one third of their life. So we can conclude that he has slept for 3 years during the last 9 years.

We should also notice that he goes to college and went to school. He also had some jobs as a teacher, editor yada yada yada during these 9 years. He also had a girlfriend with whom he spent a lot of time with.  So, I definitely don’t think that he’s watched FRIENDS 21 times over.
